Conference on Severe Storms

The city of Krakow, Poland, received from 4 and 8 November 2019, the 10th European Conference on Severe Storms (ECSS2019). The meeting brought together scientists not only from Europe but also from other continents countries such as the US, Japan, Australia or South Africa, and representatives of European consortia such as EUMETSAT - European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites or ECMWF - European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts.
 
Within the conference groups were formed to show the state of the art on topics ranging from numerical storm modeling, nowcasting and impacts of storms on society, to radar and satellite storm studies, to storm climatology historical events or risk assessment and climate change, among others.

IPMA´s was represented by meteorologist Paula Leitão, who presented a poster with a compilation of tornadoes occurrence in Portugal and its general characterization.
