The most recent European meteorological satellite, MSG-4, launched on the 15th July 2015, distributes its first image of the Earth disk on the 4th August at 10:00 UTC. This satellite is the last of the so-called Meteosat Second Generation series of European geostationary meteorological satellites with the first, MSG-1 launched in 2002.With a 12 spectral channels sensor, these satellites provide images of the Earth disk every 15 minutes.
This picture corresponds to a composite of 3 of its spectral channel images in the visible (0.6 and 0.8 µm) and near infrared (1.6 µm).
