Seafoodtomorrow 6 months meeting

IPMA2018-05-16 (IPMA)

The 6-month coordination meeting of the European funded project SEAFOODTOMORROW (ref. 773400 - H2020 funding), coordinated by IPMA, took place in Rome from 3rd to 4th of May.

This project is especially focused on the validation of innovation actions for the seafood production and processing industry. It is intended to develop products of excellent quality, including seafood products with adequate levels of essential nutrients and reduced sodium levels, as well as processed seafood products that ca be easily and quickly used by specific segments of the population, namely pregnant women, elderly people and children.

The technologies to be validated include sensors for the rapid detection of contaminant levels in seafood, better energy and environmental efficiency in seafood drying, and strategies to reduce contaminants in seafood. The project also aims to validate innovative tools that allow the determination of seafood authenticity, along with the assurance of its traceability, and to set the basis for quality certification.

Given the excellent communication among the 35 partners, the results obtained are in line with the ones forecasted. In this meeting, the next plan of action for the following activities has been defined with fruitful discussion and the next meeting is already scheduled for 20 to 22 of November in Vigo.
