2019-02-13 (IPMA)
Between January 21 and 23, 2019, IPMA participated in a workshop at the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) under the ARISTOTLE project and as a leader in the area for forest fires.
The ARISTOTLE project is a project funded by the European Commission's Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG-ECHO) to support the actions of the European Civil Protection System in a multi-hazard and worldwide context. IPMA participates in the ARISTOTLE project also in the areas of extreme weather events and tsunamis.
In the particular area of forest fires, in addition to Portugal, the project also counts on the participation of countries with similar contexts, such as France and Italy. In addition to these three countries in southern Europe, the project also has the participation of the Netherlands as a country that is attentive to the evolution of forest fires in the context of climate change.
