Atlantic Observatory Meeting

Atlantic Observatory 2020-12-14 (IPMA)

The “Atlantic Observatory – Data and Monitoring Infrastructure” project Kick-off meeting took place last Friday, December 11.

The project promoted and coordinated by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere, I.P., is a pre-defined project of the EEA Grants 2014-2021 “Blue Growth” Program, operated by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, and involves the following partners: Azores Regional Fund for Science and Technology; Madeira Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation; Institute of Marine Research, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and The University of Bergen, from Norway, and the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute from Iceland

The project will allow to strengthen the operational capacity for oceanographic monitoring of the Portuguese marine research community, as well as to create an infrastructure for the acquisition, aggregation and dissemination of oceanographic data contributing to the improvement of the research and monitoring of the Atlantic Ocean.
