European Ocean Observing System

The 1st GOOS/EOOS (Global Ocean Observing System / European Ocean Observing System) Meeting was held on April 23, 2025, at the Hydrographic Institute (IH) in Lisbon. The event was organized by the Hidrographic Insttrute (IH, João Vitorino), IPMA – Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA, Miguel Santos), Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR, Isabel Sousa Pinto), and Intersectoral Oceanographic Commission of Portugal (COI, Luís Menezes).

The meeting brought together the national representatives of various ocean observation programs associated with the IOC – Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO – as well as other observation programs in which Portugal is involved (see agenda attached). The objective of this meeting was to present these programs to the national ocean observation community and to promote interaction with the national representatives.
