ECMWF

The deterministic model of ECMWF is a global model (makes forecasts for the entire globe) of numerical prediction of time. Given its resolution this model is more geared to predict phenomena of synoptic scale (spatial scales between 500km and 5000km, time scales of days to weeks), such as frontal systems associated with extra-tropical depressions, anticiclones, etc.. The model is used to ECMWF forecasts up to 10 days. However, the quality of these forecasts decreases considerably after the fifth day. Hence, the forecasts of deterministic model are complemented by a system of forecasting by "ensembles".

The current version of the operating model of 61 vertical levels and a horizontal resolution of approximately 40 km.

Parameters of surface air pressure at the surface (at ground level), atmospheric pressure to mean sea-level, temperature and relative humidity of the air at 2 meters, temperature and soil moisture, wind zonal and the southern 10metros, total cloudiness, precipitation convective rainfall and large-scale.

Parameters of altitude: geopotencial, temperature, wind zonal, southern wind, vertical speed, relative humidity.
