Project details - SIMOcean

Abstract:The SIMOcean (System for Integrated Monitoring of the Ocean) project aims to contribute to improve the National marine management, monitoring and vigilance capabilities by aggregating different observational, satellite and model ocean and other related (e.g. meteorological, atmospheric) datasets related to marine environment monitoring, associated human activities and their social, environmental and economic impact, currently managed by the Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and the Hydrographic (Hidrográfico) Institutes, the main Portuguese data producers/providers of oceanic data.

Those datasets will be integrated in the SIMOcean system to provide value added services for sea state prediction and monitoring, in particular, related to sea wave propagation, ocean circulation dynamics and atmosphere/ocean interaction processes.

Project promoter: DEIMOS Engenharia

Project partner: Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, I.P. (IPMA); Instituto Hidrográfico (IH)

% de EEA Grant: € 206.000

Total project cost: € 275.000
