Research campaign MarBIS2020

The MarBIS2020 research campaign is taking place between 14 and 23 September, on board of "Diplodus" research vessel, led by Investigator Jorge Lobo Arteaga.

The campaign aims to evaluate the benthic macrofauna communities of Professor Luiz Saldanha Marine Park and adjacent areas, in order to characterize their biodiversity and assess the environmental status as a contribution to the 2nd cycle of application of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (2018- 2024) and the European Union's Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.

Drills will be performed using multibeam (bathymetry and backscatter) and sediment samples will be collected using a Smith McIntyre dredge.

This work will have a video and photographic coverage.
