Open Day at IPMA/Algés

2023-06-01 (IPMA)

Come and celebrate European Maritime Day with us! On the 2nd of June, Friday, the IPMA pole in Algés, dedicated to the Sea and Marine Resources, opens its doors to all those interested and enthusiasts of the Ocean for various activities.

Discover the program organized by IPMA for the European Maritime Day, #EMDInMyCountry, and join us!

Among the activities planned for free and open access for all ages, we highlight:

  • Activities for schools (as part of the IPMA "Mar dos Pequeninos" program)
  • Guided tours of the laboratories
  • Conversations with scientists
  • Peddy paper for the youngest
  • Miscellaneous mini activities
  • Exhibition "Mar Profundo" dedicated to the history of the study of the ocean in Portugal
  • Multimedia presentations

Since ancient maritime civilizations, the sea has played a vital role in the history, identity and economy of our continent. But as we celebrate our connection to the ocean, we must also recognize the urgent need to protect it. That's why we not only celebrate Europe's maritime heritage, but also commit to taking action for a healthier ocean and a sustainable blue economy.

This celebration is part of the "European Maritime Day", marked on the 20th of May, and also on the World Oceans Day, celebrated on the 8th of June, to which IPMA is associated annually.
