The second edition of the Aquário Jornadas took place at the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo on 17 January 2026, as part of the celebrations marking the 13th anniversary of the Aquário dos Bacalhaus. The event was held in collaboration with the Portuguese Oceanographic Society (APOCEAN).
Under the theme “A perspective on the oceans”, the initiative brought together researchers and the general public to reflect on some of the main challenges currently affecting marine ecosystems.
The lectures featured the participation of IPMA researchers and addressed topics such as overfishing and the overexploitation of marine resources, climate change and its impact on the oceans, oil spills, marine litter and microplastics, pressures on coastal ecosystems, as well as the role of technology in ocean observation and conservation.
