Book "Clouds"

IPMA supports the dissemination of the launching session of "Nuvens" book wich will take place today, April 19th, at 7pm, at the former Academia de Artes de Ponta Delgada, in São Miguel - Azores, and whose texts are authored by meteorologists from IPMA.
Meteorologists Diamantinho Henriques, Fernanda Silva Carvalho and Patrícia Vicens Navarro were responsible for the texts in this work, which seeks to bring together two perspectives on "Clouds": the technical and meteorological component and the aesthetic enjoyment.
As Eduardo Brito mentions in the opening of the work "A cloud in front of the window and the window like a screen. The shape of the cloud looks like a drawing: it has clear contours, the dark base wider than the white top, a vast gray scale under a blue sky. Right now, Sunday and a cloud. Later, it will fall to the ground in a dream".
This work allows us, on one hand, to understand clouds, how they are formed, what are their varieties, species and genera; and on the other hand the artistic side, of aesthetic contemplation, through powerful black and white photographs by Alberto Plácido.
