EUMETSAT: A year of polar ice

ice2017-02-09 (IPMA)

EUMETSAT has produced an animation that summarizes the status of sea ice concentration in the Arctic and Antarctic regions for the whole of 2016 and shows how polar sea ice changed during the year.

The animation displays the sea ice cover in the Arctic and Antarctic expanding and shrinking over the course of the year, as well as the meanders of weather patterns and storms influenced the movement of the ice floes around the poles.
