Launched a new app and seismic upgrades of weather app

The Portuguese Institute of Marine and Atmospheric just launched a new application for smartphones with information concerning seismic events, based on data obtained from the national seismic network of IPMA, and with data from seismic stations belonging to other national and international institutions that collaborates width IPMA.
These new applications are the result of a development project and have been designed taking into account increased access to information through such devices. This new way of communicating has very particular characteristics, which were necessary for some specific adaptations and developments.
The application developed is free and available on apple store and play google. You should search by name, sismo@ipma.
The versions available seismic data provide the Portuguese territory and the adjacent area.
- location, using the map of seismic events;
- 7 day information;
- seismological reported;
- institutional news;
- measures in case of earthquake;
- emergency list.
We also performed an update of the meteo APP, meteo@ipma. With this new update the user can:
- find information on weather warnings;
- send to IPMA information on extreme events that has observed and recorded;
- to make available on the project web page MeteoGlobal, information on the extreme event, sent.
With the updates the IPMA want to approach, even more, of their most important goal: the service to citizens.
