XII International Brewer Spectrophotometer Intercomparison Campaign

IPMA logo2017-05-31 (IPMA)

The Brewer Regional Calibration Center in Europe organizes this year the XII intercomparison of Brewer spectrophotometers.

The intercomparison campaign, which runs from May 29 to June 9 at INTA space exploration station in El Arenosillo (Huelva - Spain), involves 20 instruments from several European countries and Canada, accompanied by 50 technicians and scientists.

IPMA is the only Portuguese institution participating in this event, with two technicians from its Regional Delegation of the Azores and instrument number 102.

Brewer spectrophotometers, together with Dobson spectrophotometers, are currently the observational surface platform that serves as a reference for satellites in atmospheric ozone measurements on a global scale. On the other hand, Brewer spectrophotometers allow the spectral measurement of ultraviolet radiation to the surface of the globe, also contributing to the correct evaluation of variations and trends of the UV Index.
