The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, I.P (IPMA) joins the celebration of World Meteorological Day, on March 23, this date marks the signature on which the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is signed.
“Climate and Water” was the theme chosen by WMO for 2020, as a way of alerting to the importance of access and management of fresh water for populations, namely the effects of climate change that cause too much water or its scarcity, as it happens drought or water stress situations.
IPMA, as the national meteorological and climate authority, ensures Portugal's participation in the WMO, which brings together 193 member states.
Given the actual emergency state in Portugal due to COVID-19 pandemic, IPMA will mark this date only on its website and through its social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
