New weather station, Flores Island Azores

As part of the strengthening of meteorological observation systems in Portugal, an automatic meteorological station was installed in Fajã Grande, Flores, whose observations will directly contribute to an improvement in the IPMA's capacity in the surface meteorological observation component, particularly in the Western Group of the Azores. This installation will also complement the new Santa Bárbara radar, on Terceira Island, whose installation is currently underway.
The meteorological station started operating, on an experimental basis, on 7/08/2020, being possible, from now on, to access the data resulting from the implemented meteorological observation program.
It is important to mention that this activity had the support of the Lajes das Flores City Council and the Fajã Grande Parish Council, so we express a special thanks to its Presidents and the other local team that directly made this installation of great importance possible for the region.
