XXV APA Aquaculture Seminar

IPMA participated in the XXVth Seminar of Aquaculture organized by the APA (Portuguese Association of Aquaculture) and used this opportunity to show the importance and innovation of its European project currently underway:
FishEUTrust
IPMA, as a partner in the FishEUTrust project, was represented at the seminar by the researchers Laura Ribeiro and Carlos Cardoso, who explained the objectives and activities planned in this project to Portuguese seafood farmers gathered during the XXVth APA Seminar of Aquaculture on the 10th May of 2024 in Peniche (Portugal).
IPMA presented an oral communication about the FishEUTrust project (coordinated in Portugal by IPMA researcher Narcisa Bandarra) to a wide audience of seminar participants and distributed a questionnaire to seafood farmers.
This European project, FishEUtrust, aims to improve the quality of fish products and increase consumer confidence through cutting-edge technological innovation and greater transparency of science with permanent involvement of the various stakeholders in the sector. This is the underlying thought in the creation of a new type of laboratory, called 'Co-Creation Living Laboratory' (CLL), which IPMA will use to break myths and prejudices linked to aquaculture products.
In the communication, there was also the possibility of presenting relevant results from the sister project, the Sea2See project, in particular in what concerns market barriers for aquaculture products, something that will help in accomplishing the mission of IPMA’s CLL:

Finally, it is also important to highlight all the information given about the technological innovations that the FishEUTrust project will bring with its implementation. In fact, the FishEUTrust project also aims to create sensors for various purposes (e.g. freshness assessment) and around these prototypes there will be Technology Demonstration Sessions & a 'Workshop' during the project meeting that will take place in the week of 4th to 8th November 2024 in Olhão (Portugal).
