New internet platform from IPMA Community

Citizens' growing interest in meteorology and climate is evidence and can be proved by the increase of: observation systems by private individuals and the monitoring of the meteorological phenomena through the exchange of information in real time by groups of interested citizens, taking advantage of advances in communication systems that facilitate the establishment of associative processes between more or less organized groups.
For the monitoring of large-scale phenomena,meteorological observation networks from different countries have an adequate size, the same is not true for the monitoring of small-scale phenomena, which requires a greater density of stations and a larger number of observation technicians States.
Taking in account this reality this Institute decided to update the Internet platform of the Community IPMA initiative, with the following objectives:
- to stimulate the interaction between the collaborators of the community and the internet platform;
- provide a more appealing internet platform in terms of design;
- better performance in terms of usability taking into account the various mobile devices;
- approach the platform and the contents published in it of the social networks;
In this upgrade process, the migration of all content, as well as user accounts, from the previous meteoglobal platform was safeguarded.
