IPMA hosted the 4th LiRRIE meeting to promote circular aquaculture in the Ria Formosa
On 18 March 2026, in Olhão, IPMA organized, for the fourth time, stakeholders from the aquaculture sector in the Ria Formosa, as part of the final LiRRIE (Living Responsible Research and Innovation Ecosystem) meeting under the AZA4ICE project (Interreg Euro-MED0200819).
The meeting focused on the definition and validation of the final contributions to the Action Plan for a circular and inclusive transition of aquaculture in the Ria Formosa. This process included recommendations from a working group composed of representatives from public authorities, academia, industry, civil society, and the environmental sector.
A guide on Circular Practices and Business Opportunities in the Mediterranean and Portugal was also presented, with the aim of supporting new entrepreneurs in the aquaculture sector oriented towards the circular economy.
The meeting was marked by a dynamic exchange of ideas, reinforcing the importance of such initiatives for the sustainable development of aquaculture in the region.
