GelAvista, the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere's monitoring program for gelatinous organisms, has released a new smartphone application called Gelavista, which allows the general community to report sightings of gelatinous organisms. To do this simply submit a form provided by the application, with the following information:

  • Date and time of the sighting;
  • Sighting location;
  • Photograph of the organism(s), if possible with some reference object for scale;
  • Number of organisms: spotted in the same zone (0, 1-5, 6-10, 11-50; 50+, 100+ + 1000).

The application, developed for the Android System, is free and available on google play.

How to access information ?
