The annual joint meeting of the projects ALADIN and HIRLAM has taken place in Lisbon during the days 4 to 7 of April.
The main goal of this meeting is the exchange of experiences between the technicians and scientists which develop the physico-mathematical atmospheric limited area models at the meteorological services of 26 countries from Europe and Mediterranean Basin.
During this week the state-of-art of the operational meteorological systems on this group of countries has been achieved as well as the summary of the latests developments in this area of activity.
The numerical code of the two projects, ALADIN and HIRLAM, has as backbone the numerical code (and working methodologies) of the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) from which the daily weather conditions are elaborated by IPMA.
Portugal is a member of this development and research community since 1997.
The ALADIN project has celebrated its 25th anniversary this year in Lisbon.
