IPMA-EPPO participated in the 8th meeting of the AZA4ICE project (Interreg Euro-MED0200819), held on 6–7 May and hosted by Pôle Mer Méditerranée at the Cité de l’Économie et des Métiers de Demain in Montpellier, France.
The meeting brought together project partners to review the progress achieved during this final phase of the project and to define the next strategic steps. Particular attention was given to the C-AZA geospatial platform, an open-access tool that will soon be available to support sustainable aquaculture planning and management across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to recording videos for the Euro-MED Academy. These materials will help disseminate the project's outcomes and demonstrate the practical application of the C-AZA methodology to stakeholders. The methodology supports the identification of suitable areas for circular aquaculture development and the implementation of the Action Plans established for each pilot region.
On the second day, participants visited the Ifremer facilities in Palavas-les-Flots, where scientific research on European seabass aquaculture is conducted. The visit provided valuable insights into state-of-the-art research infrastructures and ongoing applied research activities supporting the aquaculture sector.
The meeting further strengthened knowledge exchange among partners and reinforced the joint commitment to promoting a more sustainable, circular, and inclusive aquaculture sector throughout the Euro-Mediterranean region.
