On 25 November, the 3rd LiRRIE (Living Responsible Research and Innovation Ecosystems) meeting took place in Olhão, within the scope of the AZA4ICE project, funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme. The event once again brought together representatives from Academia, Industry, Government, Civil Society and Environmental Organisations, all actively involved in the Ria Formosa.
The AZA4ICE project aims to support the transition towards a circular and inclusive aquaculture sector, and these meetings are essential to ensure that the recommendations developed reflect the real needs of the region and help guide future decision-making at the European level.
During the session, the results of the AZA4ICE methodology were presented, ideas for the Circular Aquaculture Action Plan were discussed, and the preliminary circularity assessment of the Ria Formosa — carried out using the BLUEfasma tool — was shared. The next meeting will focus on discussing and approving the Action Plan.
